Internship + others
Monday, November 23, 2009

I think I can safely say that I deserve my internship. So what if my results aren't exceptionally well. I'm pleased to see an A for biology as well as an improvement in all subjects, especially econs since I was really disappointed in it during JCT. Moreover, SAL chose students based on the online questionnaire, so they didn't really take into account of our grades, but then, so what? I know that my grades are not well done, but good enough.

I know results aren't everything. And grades are not the crucial and determining factor whether one gets into internship or not. But seriously, if someone can barely cope with their studies, has to drop subjects and whatever not, I don't see why he or she can get into the internship programme. I'm not trying to make the internship programme into some "elite" thing or whatever. My point here is, that those people who deep down know that they perhaps don't even deserve their internship, should shut up, complain less and just be thankful that for some stupid reason, you're accepted.

I hope no one misunderstood this post. Anyway, have been troubled by this issue for a long time.
I know weijian said why think so much if you already have an internship.
I'm sorry, but I just cannot stand it when people who don't deserve it, get it.
I recognise that they may have worked very hard for promos, but then if they still cannot achieve at least better grades for these kind of programmes, be it internship, ocip or OBK/OBI, then doesn't that indicate something is wrong?

Another issue, I bet most of us have heard of the phrase, "It's better to give than to receive", right?
If you do things willingly, then why expect returns, either in the form of equal or better treatment, or appreciation. Similar to how you cannot please everyone in the world, you cannot expect everyone to appreciate you. So, if you want to give, give it willingly, without expecting any form of returns. That's the greatest form of giving. It's hard to do so cos we'll definitely want some forms of recognition and returns, but still, we should be aware and change. Change doesn't just occur to our society, but to everyone of us. And that brings me to my next point. For people who want to go back to how things were because it's so much better, wake up. It's not going to happen. There will definitely be changes in people's attitude, character (which is largely determined by people themselves and less by nature), relationships...etc. To simply, "want to go back to the past" is an act of escapism because people just have no courage to overcome the challenges and embrace change which can be beneficial most of the time, if we do embrace it, rather than resist it.

Finally, feeling is different from knowing. Got this from the Adam Khoo 3-day talks we had last year. It's one thing to say "I feel..." and another thing to say "I know...".

And, it's another thing to say/feel/think about something, and then not providing any elaboration on why you feel/think that way. And if you're guilty of doing so, you should probably reflect. (probably a large number of us should do so, myself included.) To just supply a "don't know" answer is stupid.

Shall post some insightful thing from Robert Newcomb's "The Fifth Sorceress".
After 11 months of romance-comeday books by SEP, Jill Mansell, so on... and other genres, I'm finally back in touch with the Fantasy genre with magic. It's been a longgggggg time.
I've borrowed Robert Newcomb's The fifth sorceress twice, but never once have I gone beyond half the book :(
Anyway, the second day, I went to borrow the second vol, despite not finishing the first one.

Okay, supreme court tomorrow + piano in the evening.

"If I want to laugh, I watch Liverpool play." - Adrian Tan

HAHA. He's great.
If not for my damn camera which I forgotten to put away, I would have been able to watch a case in action LIVE @ THE SUPREME COURT (duh,live-.-) of this gang-rape case.
Actually, after the day ended, I shouldn't even have collected the camera and just stayed in the building until someone informed us that the case is opened for us to watch. Aiyah. Why after I collect then inform -.-

Okay, haha

HAHHA so pro. Now I can't name mine Lim & Lim. lol

http://www.limlim.com.sg/00239891p1.htm

Supreme court tomorrow. coooooooolz.
Sigh, had to buy work attire.
It'll be even worse if we had to accompany mentor to meet clients and court.
I don't care man. Let me get the opportunity!

Okay, should prob sleep, but can't.

bye :D

I love Il Divo. They're amazing amazing amazing.
Amazing good looks + talents. Seriously. I love all 4 voices.
And their love and passion for music.
Omg. Shall elaborate more some other day.

I think personality is not determined by nature, but rather by ourselves.
It's the mentality, I guess.
So, people should maybe stop saying, It's my nature/personality/character that I'm like this. Why not blame it on yourself.

And, if everyone was to adopt a damn bad habit of "Dunno, dunno and dunno", the world will seriously be doomed even before 2012. Political leaders can just make any stupid decisions and policies and when problems arise, "dunno, let's just leave it in this state". AND WHAT?
Leave it to God to clean up the mess? Some human beings are that stupid. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. But, there's no other simpler and more direct way to put it.

Okay, not sure if anyone gets my point here.

I know I probably should be reading up on everything regarding Lee & Lee Law firm.
But, I'm now looking @ internship with MFA after A levels. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. MFA man.

Okay. Kind of excited after looking @ MFA internship.
Sigh, getting through the rest of J2 first- MCT, JCT, Prelims & finally, A levels.

OOOOzFFFFFFFFFzDDzz@@!

I guess there's no easier path to work towards your dream than hardwork, hardwork & hardworkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

Meeting with Mr Aziz was alright. I was kind of worried sick when I didn't receive his sms to confirm the meeting today. Then he smsed me today morning. RELIEF MANNN!
Meeting went rather well. As I've said, he's nice :)
GDRC's going to be a PDP soon:D:D:D
It means greater recognition. But with that, means greater responsibility as well!
Received a comment regarding GDRC which kind of hurt me. After doing so much and that's all they can say? It'll be worse if it's coming from a member or someone who ran for the exco positions. I'll just have to say, I'm super disappointed if that person can't walk up to me and just tell me.

Super sleepy. Exco meeting tomorrow manzzzzzz.
Doubt I'll join Stand. Chart volunteer thing. See again.
Rather caught up in gdrc stuff recently. lol
Okay, should take a break now! (HAVE A KIT KAT!!!!!)

Need to read up on Lee&Lee!!

bye

OMGOMGOMGOMG. MY INTERNSHIP :D:D:D:D:D

I've finally, finally, finally received the online confirmation email for SAL JCP.
SERIOUSLLLLY.

When I first saw the law firm_Lee & Lee I was posted to, I thought it was quite funny. Haha cos it sounded like mine Lim&lim&lim. ANYWAY, Lee & Lee was set up by Lee Kuan Yee, Lee Kim Yew and Kwa Geok Choo. COOOOL OR NOT.
I seriously don't mind it being the shortest internship programme man since it's not exactly part of TIP, but there's still job shadowing. Okay, point being that, I CAN'T WAIT FOR INTERNSHIP TO START.

Only problem is that, we have to be dressed damn formally if we're going to court & meeting clients. Sianz. But no problem is too big to spoil my internship! :)
I hope my mentor's friendly too.

I can't waitttttttt. I still thought I may not get in after doing the online questionnaire.
Happpppppppy.

okay. tired.
haha bye

I seriously, seriously, seriously hope Michael Carrick score today :)
Oh, and hope Rooney score as well :)
HAHA, then he'll most probably dedicate it to KAIIIIIIIIIII :)

What's with Drogba's kick? lol

OP tomorrow.
I need to control my nerves damn badly.
Oh wait. Not the real OP, group meeting only. Lol. If anyone mistakens it.

Okay. I thought Manutd had quite a few good chances.
Michael Carrick kind of like tried 3 times?
Owen Hargreaves may be back next week!!! :)

CARRICK CARRICK CARRICK CARRICK!!!! (L)(L)(L)

As I've mentioned before long long ago, I really have a liking towards him, other than him being #16. I just think he's elegant on the field, playing. C'MON!!!
CARRICK, SCOREEEEEEEEEEEEE :)
I've been hoping Carrick will score for quite some time.

:)

Spent a total of 60+ in just 2 days (plus some other expenditure). Wth. Hate it. :(
So expensive. I'm seriously considering living on bread & water :( Sigh.
Knew it was bad to go for Swensen on Sun :( Damn that ice-cream buffet. So bloody not worth itz. Shingz. lol
Anyway, econs year end project. o.m.g pleaseeeeeeee?-.-
Seriously. I rather it is an individual work rather than group work.
I think Hao Kang should learn how to control his mouth, esp on Fri. My group was already on a tight schedule to complete the WR and he had to make so much noise. SERIOUSLY. I would have let this incident passed, but he just had to complain that he couldn't stand me? Seriously, not just me who was pissed off. Maybe I was at fault for not asking him to keep quiet politely, but then couldn't he just let the damn incident passed. Seriously. He gets on my nerves.
It's taking me a LONGGGGG time to finish reading The Time Traveller's wife.
The way & style it is written reminds me of the movie 500 days of summer. No idea why. Just get the same feeling.
They should play the song "Lucky" when advertising for places like The Maldives. Cos whenever I listen to the song, I'll think of clear blue seas and skies.
DAMN GPF THIS WEEK. hate it. I hate filing.
Our class has the BEST I&R. Our first drafts not even returned yet. Fantastic. Deadline is this Fri.
bye.
